preface
Hello, and welcome to our web site. My name is Frank, and my adorable partner is Lisa, and we have a story to tell - well, quite a few stories in fact.
We both emanate from England and although only meeting a few years ago, have both lead very different, but interesting lives. Now we are together many life changing things have occurred, and are continuing to occur. Many, too meaningful to be dismissed as pure coincidence.
My background is very varied - successful businessman, reduced to bankrupt, long-term disc jockey, more marriages and relationships than I care to remember, 17 years living in Spain, to end up, until recently, living life from the confines of a wheelchair, and now, residing in Ireland, regaining mobility. I am fiercely independent and have always viewed things from a totally logical aspect...until recently.Lisa, largely self-educated, escaped from a loveless marriage, raised four children for 14 years as a single parent, during which time discovered herself, realised she has unique psychic abilities, and is now a renowned clairvoyant and Tarot specialist. Becoming a Reiki Master, and now healing and teaching in alternative therapy practises adds another string to the bow of accomplishments. Add special interest in mediumship, Shamanisn and dream interpretation, Lisa is skilled in many aspects of alternative therapy.
We are unconventional in almost every sense of the word, and now have moved to an old cottage that fits our personalities and lives perfectly.
But, this is no ordinary cottage. It is very special. The spirits of previous occupants reside here, protecting the property, and are now taking care of its new occupants.
We did not come here by chance. Fate, or however you wish to term it determined we should live in this extraordinary house because, we deserve to be here, and are needed to continue the love that abounded with previous families who resided here.
Undoubtedly it is the same intervening destiny that occasioned us to meet a lady named Mary, who was born in the cottage more than half a century ago, and this encounter, within a few weeks of us moving in. Mary has furnished me with information and old photographs that help provide historical background to this cottage.
Lisa and I only go back a few months in this house, the history of the dwelling goes back several hundred years. The significance of the area goes back to the beginning of Catholicism in Ireland and carbon dated artefacts found locally pre-date that to 3000BC.
It is therefore no wonder that I want to bring all this history and our lives into one collection of words and pictures for others to share.
Along with Westerly Visions, where the history, information about the beautiful area where we now live, and the ongoing events in our lives, are recounted, we have two other sites.
Irish Psychic Foundation has been established for sometime, and as the name suggest covers many aspects of the para-normal, divination and akin subjects.
Earth Light Resource was created to bring awareness of environmental and ecological issues, and a vehicle to cover subjects that are of interest outside the realms of the other two. This intertwined triplet enables anything we wish to include to be under this one umbrella.
To conclude this preface, I firmly believe the Internet is there for all to read, learn from and enjoy, and I have no liking for those who put their work up for all to access, then lock it up by making visitors become a member, or log-in, or whatever. To me that is an ego thing, and I can't be doing with it. I have written a disclaimer, somewhat unorthodox, but sums up my feelings on this matter.
At this time of writing this, these sites are in their infancy. There is much to do, but it is far from being a chore. It will become quite extensive and there will be much to read, so whatever takes your interest, please enjoy.
Comments and other communications are welcomed. There are links throughout to email direct.
new beginnings
In the first week of August, 2008 we moved to a cottage in the parish of Aghagower, 10kms outside of Westport, County Mayo, on the west coast of Ireland. Thanks to Google maps, that's our house - furthest building on the right. The one acre plot is the lighter green bit of land to the left of the driveway (boreen in Irish) and of course, encompasses where the house stands. The surrounding fields are inhabited by grazing sheep and cows, but were once part of the 27 acres the original farm consisted of. The field between our house and the next property has particular importance, keep its location in mind.

As soon as we first arrived, there was an inviting feel, a living presence I choose to term it. Lisa was more aware of it than me, she being the psychic one. But even to this sceptic, (tho' becoming increasingly less so), it definitely did have a good aura. Everything looked beautiful, and matched our requirements perfectly. Sufficiently remote, pet safe, many trees and flora, and, potential. We were yet to discover what amazing bonuses awaited.
We fell in love with the place straight away, Lisa, because everything about it is just as she has dreamt of for many years. Me, because I can envisage living here in serene surroundings, but leading an active and useful existence. Reading on, you will learn how important that aspect is to me.
At this point I shall introduce you to Thomas Sceptical.
'ello. Call me Tom.
He represents millions of people who do not believe in psychic happenings, and at times will interject with a comment or alternative viewpoint. He's a bit coarse and common, so you have to bear with that.
Psychic 'appenings. Load of old twaddle I calls it. An' as for this Frank bloke, 'e must be from the planet Zog. Spirits indeed. I fink you 'as been on the spirits mate. One glug too many of the ol' pocheen.
Extremely doubtful Thomas...sorry...Tom, however I am looking forward to trying a nip or three of the illegal liquor. I've had a couple of noggins of that dark brew that is a way of life in this country, but found it rather bland.
Because I receive a disability 'pension' I also get help with the rent, so when an agreement was quickly reached with the landlord, the next step was to talk with the local Social Welfare Officer. He could not have been more helpful. He took the matter completely out of my hands, dealt with the landlord direct, sorted out all the financial side and we were able to move in within days. Having come up against many obstacles in getting my claim passed through, this was a complete reversal of most of what I previously experienced.
Everything was made so easy. To us, the spirits were already at work, but of course, at that time, we did not know they existed, so it was doubly amazing how everything was dropping into place with almost no effort on our part.
For example, we needed a removal lorry. The vehicle was a normal pantechnicon style, and although the foliage either side of the boreen had not been cut back for some considerable time, and the entrance is a tight turn off a narrow country lane, the driver had little difficult in getting into the gateway and up to the house.
So, we are now here, and well installed, although there are still boxes to unpack, shelving to be put up, and a huge amount of work to do on the land, but that can wait until next spring. I have a number of indoor projects planned to keep me going during the winter months.
I envisage it being a mix of information and web-log, written in my individual style that people find very readable. Whilst many sites are flashy and demonstrate the builder's expertise, this one does not need to be so. The stories themselves are sufficient; therefore I have kept it simple.
Why that 'andle - Westerly Visions?
Well Tom, I pondered long on an apt title, but it was Lisa who came up with the name. It encompasses everything. We live in the west of a beautiful country. Even the nearest main town is called Westport.
Starting in Dublin, we have gradually moved homes further west 'til we can't go much further before falling into the Atlantic Ocean. Our dream home has finally become reality.
Lisa, as a clairvoyant sees things denied to ungifted mortals, and uses her abilities to help people.
In a different way, I too am a visionary. I can see potential. I look at other people's discards, and see in my mind's eye what they could be turned into - useful objects, or pieces of art. And, I have the abilities to make many things happen.
For some years now I have adopted a line from a song by Faithless as my favourite quote, from a track called Reverence (itself a significant word):
YOU DON'T NEED EYES TO SEE...YOU NEED VISION
Come along Tom, time to move on.
I is right be'ind yer squire.
